As an architect, Olympic medal winner Carin is interested in situation-specific design solutions and the way in which the user experiences a space. Roel works from research into materiality and applications. In 2008 they founded their agency. They wanted to visualize their cooperation and their personal, pragmatic work method on their website.

I have made a grid system that allows for text blocks and images to be placed anywhere on the page. Instead of using a uniform template, each page on the website has its own layout.

On the project pages, Roel and Carin talk—separately and together—about their individual starting points and how these result in collaborative designs.

The website roughly consists of two types of pages:
–  List views in which all documents of a certain type are summarized e.g. the Work page;
–  Detail pages that contain images and project descriptions e.g. this project page.

The site does not use a CMS, but is CMS-prepared. This means that a CMS can quickly and easily be implemented without having to make changes to other parts of the site. In this way, the investment in a website can be spread over time.

The system uses XML to store information, allowing updates to be made in minutes.
